Resumen:
or the development of this draft is to conduct a study of secondary metabolites present in the ether extracts and ethanolic of Cestrum species cuneifolium Francey, the family of Sonalaceae, located in the municipality of Sibaté, using qualitative analysis methods and analysis instrumental in establishing its biological activity.

The genus Cestrum, enjoys great fame in popular culture for its healing properties, as in the case of: Cestrum cuneatum Francey, Cestrum parvifolium and Cestrum mutissi medicinal importance of which is due to its antibacterial and antifungal behavior.

According to studies the Cestrum species have been found as secondary metabolites: alkaloids, steroidal saponins, sterols, tannins, saponins, carbohydrates, flavonoids, fatty acids and vitamin D.

In the case of Cestrum cuneifolium Francey, is expected to find secondary metabolites, which are purified, and will be preliminary phytochemical analysis, and chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques to elucidate their structures. Next is to assess the biological activity of this species and determine if, like other species of the genus Cestrum, has antibacterial properties.

Analysis for the corresponding two extracts were used: ether and ethanolic sheets for separating representative secondary metabolites by column chromatography, as well as for isolation, purification and identification of the functional groups of the same by means of preliminary chemical tests , physical evidence (melting point, refractive index, density), chromatographic techniques (CCD, CC, CCDP) and spectroscopic (UV, IR, MS, NMR), respectively. Finally evaluate the antimicrobial activity of this species through microbiological method of drilling plate gel diffusion and macrodilution modified Kirby Bauer plate.
